In Act 1 of Othello, we are introduced to Othello amongst the streets of Venice. Here we learn that Othello is a Moor and a General of the Venetian army. His trusted advisor Iago has a secret disdain for him due to Othello giving a promotion to Cassio over him. We are also introduced to the love of Othello and Desdemona, in which Desdemona's father claims only happened due to magic charms used by the Moor. After his marriage to Desdemona, he is forced to convince Desdemona's father that he has used no charms but that their love is real.
The biggest moment that stood out to me was the big speech that was given by Othello when convincing Desdemona's father that the love between him and Desdemona was real. There are a lot of monologues from Othello here and we get to learn a lot about how the two of them ended up together and what his intentions are. He also paints a lot of imagery which makes it a lot easier for me to buy into the story.
